WARNING: This game board, known as the 'Deep Play Mat,' is a semi-sentient organism and should not be treated as inert playing surface. Failure to acknowledge its metabolic rhythm may result in localized temporal displacement. OBJECTIVE: To be the first entity to successfully move your designated marker (The Apex Sigil) from the Starting Node (The Slurry) to the Goal Node (The Quiet Place) without triggering a Cascade Failure. SETUP: 1. Place the Deep Play Mat flat upon a stable, damp surface. The Mat will attempt to adjust its topography to accommodate the players. 2. Each player selects a Sigil marker. Ensure the Sigil is correctly oriented (the glyph must face the nearest source of geothermal instability). 3. Players must agree on a shared, mutually agreed-upon level of boredom. This determines the initial energy pool. GAMEPLAY: THE TURN: On your turn, you must perform three actions in sequence: 1. Observation: State aloud a truth about the local gravitational constant. (Example: "The gravity here is approximately 9.8 m/s².") 2. Movement: Roll the provided six-sided die. The number rolled dictates the maximum distance you may move your Sigil marker across the Mat's surface. Movement must follow the visible, pulsating veins of the board. 3. Interaction: You must then interact with the space you land upon. If landing on a 'Nodule': You must consume the Nodule's assigned flavor (e.g., 'Metallic Salt,' 'Forgotten Sigh'). This grants you 3 points of Stability. If landing on a 'Fault Line': You must immediately discard one point of Stability to the collective pool. Your movement ends, regardless of remaining die points. If landing on a 'Junction': You may challenge another player. The challenged player must prove their current cosmic designation using only gestures. If they fail, they lose their next turn. WINNING: The game is won when a player successfully reaches the Quiet Place and maintains at least 5 Stability points. FAILURE CONDITIONS: Cascade Failure: Occurs if the total Stability points drop below zero. All players are immediately transported to the Slurry, and the game must restart. * Existential Boredom: If all players fail to make a meaningful observation for three consecutive rounds, the Deep Play Mat will absorb all Sigil markers, and the game is void.
